the indian soul has a certain child-likeness. it pervades the art, the music, the culture, the languages. i believe this is where the lack of respect from europeans comes from.

but the europeans forget that it is children who make it into the kingdom of heaven. we are more sensitive, less serious, less formal, more naive, more innocent. more communal, more dependent. naturally warm and familiar.

maybe an indian will never write Being and Time. but Being and Time is not necessary for love. it is a kind of complex phenomenological art project. but no one needs this. all that matters is purity of heart and love of god. like children, indians can fall hard. but we are redeemed just as quickly.

to do things 'the indian way', then, is to embrace this child-like quality.

indians seem to have a special devotion to bala-avatars, the child deities.

While modern Western culture often views being called "childlike" or "dependent" as an insult to one's autonomy, the Indian way recognizes that before the vastness of God, a proud, hyper-rational adult is just an illusion anyway. Becoming a child is simply arriving at the truth.
